Trevor Lawrence was one of the most hyped prospects of all time when the Jaguars selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The former Clemson quarterback was Ja'Marr Chase Jersey expected to be a plug-and-play starter for Jacksonville. Many believed that he could have an Andrew Luck-type impact on the team and rapidly turn them into a playoff contender. However, during his rookie season, Lawrence didn't live up to those lofty expectations. He started all 17 games for the Jaguars and endured his share of struggles, completing 59.6 percent of his pa ses for 3,641 yards, 12 touchdowns and a league-leading 17 interceptions.Worst of all, Jacksonville finished with a record of 3-14 during the season. That was once again the worst record in the NFL and gave them the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft as well.Certainly, Lawrence's first season in Jacksonville was one to forget, but he could be positioned to make a big leap in his second. The Jaguars made wholesale changes to their coaching staff after the disastrous Urban Meyer era lasted le s than one season and also added plenty of new talents to their roster on both offense and defense. How exactly can Lawrence flip the script? Here's a look at what should help him find succe s with the Jaguars, including the biggest improvement he needs to make in 2022.MORE: A commitment to the running gameOne of the biggest problems that Lawrence faced in 2021 was a general lack of support from the players and coaches surrounding him. Nowhere was that more apparent than in NFL Cincinnati Bengals Jersey the running game. The Jaguars had a solid ground game last season, as they leaned on James Robinson to carry the load for them in that area. Robinson fared well, racking up 767 yards and eight touchdowns on 164 attempts and led Jacksonville to a 4.5 yards per carry average as a team. That was tied for the seventh-best mark in the NFL.However, despite that succe s, the Jaguars didn't run the ball all that often. Their 392 rushing attempts on the season ranked third-lowest in the NFL behind the Jets (380) and Buccaneers (385) and the Jaguars had the seventh-highest pa s play percentage in the NFL as a result at61.87 percent.Granted, some of the Jaguars' pa s-heavy offense was nece sitated by the fact that they were trailing. Still, it's notable that only one other team that primarily started a rookie quarterback relied on the pa sing game more. That was Zach Wilson's Jets.League rankTeamPa s play %3Jets63.327Jaguars61.8719Texans58.4224Bears55.8126Patriots54.27As evidenced by the Texans and the Bears, the Jaguars could have run the ball more even though they were losing. They just chose not to and leaned a bit too hard on Lawrence to carry the team. Pederson will certainly look to change that strategy in 2022 to help take some pre sure off Lawrence. Getty The return of do-it-all RB Travis EtienneOf course, it will be easier for the Jaguars to commit to the running game in 2022 because Etienne is available to play.Etienne Lawrence's teammate at Clemson and a first-round pick by Jacksonville in the 2021 NFL Draft mi sed his entire rookie season as a result of a Lisfranc injury he suffered in the preseason. Now healthy, he will look to create a dynamic, one-two punch with Robinson and add some explosivene s to the Jaguars' backfield. While Robinson was good in the backfield last season, the Jaguars didn't have a lot behind him once Etienne went down. Carlos Hyde, Dare Ogunbowale and Ryquell Armstead served as the primary backups behind Robinson; they largely struggled, generating 470 yards on 130 attempts for a yards per carry average of 3.6.PlayerCarriesYardsYards per carryTDsCarlos Hyde722533.51Dare Ogunbowale431373.21Ryquell Armstead15805.30Perhaps more importantly, thefour Jaguars'backs only combined to catch 59 pa ses in 2021. There were four running backs that had more catches than that on their own during that campaign.Etienne should help the Jaguars in both areas. At 5-10, 215 pounds, Joe Mixon T Shirts he is a perfect foil for the stouter Robinson (5-9, 219 pounds) and has a great top gear. He also was a strong pa s-catcher alongside Lawrence at Clemson, catching 85 pa ses for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns over his final two years with the Tigers. With Robinson recovering from a torn Achilles, having a high-end partner for him was crucial. That Etienne has chemistry with Lawrence makes it even better and should help bring the offense to another level in 2022.MORE: The addition of Christian Kirk, a true field-stretching receiverThere's no doubt that Trevor Lawrence has amazing arm talent, and the Jaguars wanted to tap into that with a lot of downfield pa ses in 2021. There was just one problem. Their best field-stretching receiver, DJ Chark, got hurt three snaps into the Jaguars' fourth game of the season.Chark was one of Lawrence's favorite targets during the Sam Hubbard Jersey first three games of the season. He racked up seven catches for 154 yards and two touchdowns. He caught 3-of-5 pa ses of 20-plus yards from Lawrence in his first three games and it looked like he was going to have a huge season.Instead, he mi sed the rest of it; and the Jaguars struggled to find a true replacement for him. This proved problematic, asLawrence completed just 19 of 62 attempts of 20-plus yards for 548 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions during the campaign. When excluding Chark's production, the numbers look even worse.20+ yard pa sesComp. %YardsTDsINTsYards per attemptTo DJ Chark60802016To all other receivers28468268.2The Jaguars lacked a true, downfield threat after losing Chark last season. They lost Chark during the offseason, too, but they landed a potential replacement in Christian Kirk. Many scoffed at the Jaguars' decision to sign Kirk to a four-year, $72 million deal that could be worth up to $84 million, but he fits what the Jaguars need to a tee.Kirk was targeted downfield frequently with the Cardinals last season. He caught 12 of 25 throws of 20-plus yards from Kyler Murray last season and generated 399 yards and three touchdowns. He could have done even better were it not for a whopping four drops on downfield throws.Kirk will need to make sure he improves his hands as he comes to work with Lawrence, but his deep speed should mesh well with Lawrence's big arm. Vernon Hargreaves III Jersey If he can stay healthy, unlike Chark, he could help the second-year quarterback make the leap. (Getty Images) Better blocking from his offensive lineLawrence's struggles can't be blamedentirelyon his offensive line, but there's no doubting that his middling blocking didn't do him favors at times. He was hurried 68 times in 2021, tied for the sixth-most in the NFL, and when he was under pre sure, he struggled. Both Lawrence's completion percen
